Cosmodrome
Valparaíso, Chile · desde 2021 · shoegaze / dream-pop / krautrock
Four Valparaíso natives rehearsing in a Cárcel Hill warehouse, sounding like the ocean with reverb. Their debut EP, recorded in a single take, already circulates hand-to-hand through the port scene.
“We didn't want to sound perfect. We wanted to sound like five in the morning.”
What first hooks you about Cosmodrome is space. Not melody, not rhythm: the space between things. Antonia Reyes' guitars linger, overflow, let reverberation do half the work. Below, Tomás Vidal's bass holds everything with almost stubborn patience.
There's clear heritage — My Bloody Valentine, Beach House, some Cocteau Twins — but there's also something very much of the port: the fog, the elevators, that luminous melancholy only cities with hills understand. That's why we follow them: because they sound like a place, not a playlist.
